All Made by a Farmer hemp flower is grown on our 200 acre Ann Arbor, MI farm and processed further at our own facilities. We are in the midst of the multi-year process toward achieving full USDA Organic certification, with all product being grown free of herbicides, pesticides and fungicides since 2019.
Triploids > Diploids
In Cannabis, just like in many seed-bearing plants, most specimens receive one chromosome pair from each parent, (often denoted as 2n). This diploid (2n) variety makes up the vast majority of plant populations. However, a natural mutation copies and doubles these chromosome pairs to created tetraploids (4n) at rates that are rare but predictable in large populations under certain conditions. These tetraploid (4n) specimens don’t show to have any specific production-edge over their common diploid (2n) counterparts, but the edge comes in breeding the two with each other:
Common Diploid (2n) + Rare Tetraploid (4n) = Triploid (3n)
The resulting seed carries one pair of chromosomes from the diploid parent, and two pairs from the tetraploid parent, making it a triploid (3n) specimen.
